The Steel Roman Dial Cartier Tank
The Cartier Tank has a superbly rich heritage dating back to the first quarter of the 20th century. The Tank Basculante was unveiled by Cartier in 1933 and has been a quiet hero of the brand’s line-up. This example dates to the early 2000s and features a quartz movement in the steel case that measures 23x40mm. The white dial features black Roman numerals and the ‘secret’ Cartier signature in the VII numeral. The blue cabochon at 12 o’clock is used to reverse the inner case of the watch through a 360 degree rotation, to protect the glass in a similar vein to the JLC Reverso. The watch can also double as a table clock. You can read our recent article on these watches here. The watch has been fitted with a new battery by our watchmaker.
